Tailwaggers Club Trust is an ancient charity, which provides help to cats and dogs which otherwise would not receive the life saving medical treatment they need.
Before pet insurance became widely available, millions of people enrolled their pets in the Tailwaggers Club. The Queen's dogs all had their iconic medals which proudly announced that they were helping their pals. There was even a Hollywood branch with fund raising dinners thrown by Walt Disney and Bette Davis! Donations from Tailwaggers helped Guide Dogs for the Blind to get started – the Club even lent them office space. Massive donations helped the Royal Veterinary College to grow.
Today, Tailwaggers continues to help those cats and dogs which need serious, often life saving medical treatment, but whose owners cannot find a way to pay for it all. Sometimes people on low incomes cannot get all the necessary treatment free of charge via the PDSA. Others may not be eligible for PDSA services, but still cannot afford insurance, or have not fully appreciated the risks and the costs of pets. Sometimes people forget to renew their insurance policy, or their policy doesn't cover or provide enough cover for their needs. Whatever the reason, we work to help the owners and animals who have "fallen through the net", by providing expert advice and assistance to find a way to get the necessary treatment, and in some cases by providing donations to help with the costs.
We listen to everyone who contacts us, and try to think of a solution. Very often pet owners in crisis have no one else to turn to. Just having someone to talk to can be a tremendous relief, and money isn't necessarily always the solution. In many cases we can make practical suggestions, or just help people to get what they are already entitled to.
To continue this vital work, we obviously need your support. We need your donations and fundraising efforts, and we need people to remember us in their wills. Every penny makes a crucial difference to the Cats & Dogs we help to save.
